As we approach the upcoming June 21st Solstice & eclipse we are being shown our extreme yin (feminine) in the Southern hemisphere or our extreme yang (masculine) in the Northern hemisphere.
For those of us in the South, this is a testing time as we are come face to face with our shadow, our dark side as we experience the darkest time of the annual cycle eliciting the polarity that is the opposite of what we like to publicly project. Whether we like it or not, the traits that we find hard to accept in others because we haven’t fully accepted them in ourselves are surfacing for us to see & acknowledge within us. And given that the sun is in the sign of Gemini this brings us face to face with our own dual nature, the ‘self’ that we find personally unacceptable, creating feelings of self judgement & self rejection.
In the lead up to this show down with the small lower self (the ego) the universe has gifted us with people who have served as mirrors showing us externally what we reject in ourselves as cataylsts for our own self awareness & growth. Soul mates who we love & hate as reflections of ourselves.
This Winter of discontent is more intense than the last as we approach the full time entry into the photon belt (the Age of Light) increasing the light that shines a spotlight on all that we would prefer not to see or confront in ourselves. As the Buddhist teaching highlights, if you see a pile of shit in the road – lie down & roll in it! In other words, embrace your shadow – revel in it! Delight in the part of you that is not perfect, inappropriate & wrong! Indulge it, enjoy being lazy, addictive, angry, manic because what you resist, persists. So become one with your shadow temporarily & own it with those around you who it affects so they can feel safe knowing that you take full responsibility for it rather than denying & projecting your shadow on your nearest & dearest.
The test is to fully accept yourself knowing that if you can do this you will attract into your world others who accept you warts & all. Sacred Union starts with the self so embrace this opportunity to truly see the part of yourself that most needs your support, compassion & understanding rather than denial & criticism.
Dance out your anger, indulge your inner sloth with comfort foods & trackpants, be messy in the chaos, allow your broken, wounded self to express it’s ego tanty that will have you break on through to the other side! For if you allow the full expression the energy will shift, clearing your channel to let more light in rather than remaining stuck, heavy & full of self criticism. Activate the inner mother to allow yourself to ‘be’ just as you are without needing to fix or rationally understand everything. Zen is not wearing white & chanting ‘Om’ every day of your life it is the ability to allow what is & dance with that!
This is a particularly challenging time for men since they are ruled by the sun so allow them their bunker, their cave – not making demands on them to ‘do’ but to return to the womb of the mother to psychologically die in preparation for their rebirth on the Solstice. For those in the North, this is the zenith of outward activity so rejoice in your ability to be productive, to shine, to put yourself out there – but be sure to ground so you don’t burn out! Enjoy basking in the glory of what you have been generating with your life energy for the last 6 months.
Where I live it snowed last night & when hell freezes over miracles happen!
And I must acknowledge & thank the clients & loved ones who have mirrored this ego swansong within me so I could grasp these teachings & pass them on!
So…Love yourself in the Extreme!

Timely words indeed Tanishka as I writhe in the frustration and self flagellation of the stuckness and lack of creativity that suddenly seems so heavy to bear. Angry at myself for non-achievement, failure to seize opportunities and then simply just getting old. I understand this is a heavy duty time astrologically as we move into the full lunar eclipse this week, but I haven’t seen myself so cringeful for a long time.
Thanks for the confirmation that I am in good company as I wade through the heavy darkness of my shadow and now turn to face and embrace it. Think I’ll head back to bed and pull up the covers till tomorrow and see what the new day brings with acknowledgement that I am indeed sojourning in the underworld.

Thanks Kerri for your exquisite honesty to confirm that which we are collectively journeying. I was feeling that way a week ago but thankfully moved through it after giving myself permission to fully indulge it. Since Winter Solstice is the most potent time for setting our annual intentions it feels like the transition phase before the birth when you just want to curl up & die rather than complete the labour!
